pourley
Create a file on windows, continue to edit and save on mac, then open the document on windows and the following prompt appears: "your file was truncated , but we have managed to recover an older version of it . you are advised to save the file under a new filename." After clicking "close", the content edited on mac is lost.
Staff Dan C Posted January 21, 2019 Staff Share Posted January 21, 2019 Hi pourley, Welcome to the forums I've tried to replicate this following your method and I'm not seeing the same error message. Could you please confirm, what version number are you running on Windows and on Mac? You can find out on Windows under Help>About and on Mac under Affinity Photo>About. What method are you using to transfer files between Windows and Mac please? Quote Please Note: I am now out of the office until Tuesday 2nd April on annual leave. pourley
Transfer method: SAMSUNG PSSD in exFAT Windows: 1.6.5 Mac: 1.6.7 --- Thank you for your reply. Are you "create files and edit content" in windows, then "edit and save again" in mac, and finally back to windows to open?
Staff Dan C Posted January 21, 2019 Staff Share Posted January 21, 2019 Thanks for confirming that, I connected an external memory stick to my Windows PC, formatted the drive to exFAT, created a new document in Affinity and saved it to the drive. I ejected the drive and connected it to my Mac, opened, edited and saved the document, then plugged the memory stick back into my Windows PC. There was no such error message when I opened the file, and no data missing. A truncated file on an external drive usually happens if the drive could not be accessed during the editing process, does this happen with every file, or only the one please? pourley
every file. After I saved the file, I closed Affinity and closed the mac, and did not eject the exfat. I will test it later and eject the exfat and then shut down the computer to see if this error will occur. I have never had the habit of popping out exfat when I turn off the computer. Other application software documents have not had such an error message.
