Beta 1.7.0.221 not opening

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am having no success in getting the latest beta (1.7.0.221) to run.

I have downloaded it four times onto two separate laptops and once onto an iMac 2017.

I have downloaded the exe with Firefox - latest version and Chrome. The file size is always reported as 344mb on completion

I have tried running it as admin, when the 'Do you want to run this program' box appears; click ok and the effect is the same, the whirling blue circle runs, disappears, comes back and then goes away for good.

Any clues, please, as what to do next - thanks in advance.

HI GRH

Can you uninstall any publisher elements you have then run this Microsoft tool and try installing again

Thanks

Hi Chris_K,

Thanks for your reply.

i uninstalled version beta_206 and ran the Microsoft tool. This ran some checks asked me to choose, from a drop-down, the program that was having difficulty being installed. Because it had been uninstalled I chose (as directed) 'not listed' when it said 'Troubleshooter couldn't identify the problem' . Give feedback or close were the only options.

So, I re-installed beta _206 - with no problem and then tried to install the beta_221 update; this gave a black square, which promptly disappeared.

I ran the tool again and allowed it to do its thing and uninstall Publisher. Then successfully reinstalled _206 and tried to install the update _221 with no success.

Still at square one. :(

Unfortunately, after I uninstalled Publisher the first time to see if that and a re-install would fix it, I realised I didn't have the .exe file anymore so downloaded the free beta from the store, which it turns out is _206. If you would kindly give me a link to _211 I will try your suggestion.

Thanks.

I suspect the 211 was a typo for 221, and if so you can get it the pinned topic at the top of this forum, where the latest version is always available. Currently that's here.

Thanks Walt,

I checked out the link, I already have this file, but just in case there was a download problem, downloaded it again. It does not run. Uninstalled _206 and tried again. Still no luck.

I can’t update to v1.7.0.221. I have Windows 10, Version 1809 (OS Build 17763.253).

Same version and build as me; perhaps it's a windows problem, however all the other AP beta's have run ok up until now.
