Are "Photo" and "Publisher" separate programs or personas?

just one of my crazy ideas …

 

The hints about future feature sets, release dates, about that a lot of code of the three programs will be shared and last but not least the single file format lead me to the question in the subject line:

Are "Publisher" and " Photo" going to be separate applications or will you publish a free viewer with all functionality being available as in-app purchase personas?

Yes Affinity Photo and Affinity Publisher are going to be separate apps, but from what I understand of the roadmap, Jens, you won't need a viewer. You just buy whichever of the three apps you want and can work in all three apps with one document if you wish.

 

Transferring a document between apps will be very simple, so you can quickly proceed using that app's tools (and whichever Personas it includes).

Affinity Photo and Affinity Publisher will be separate applications but all applications share the same file format. The applications will also be able to switch to each other to edit content without losing undo history.

I think Affinity Photo will enter in public beta as soon as Affinity Designer is released. It should be around September/October 2014.

It depends on how many of your feature requests we do for Designer  :)

 

Hopefully the Photo beta will be out before the end of the year.
