Canon T7i (800D) CR2 RAW image is split/replicated in Develop persona

Recommended Posts

Issue

Opening Canon CR2 RAW image in Affinity Photo for Mac Develop Persona results in image being split into multiples and parts of the image replicated over the rest of the image when using Apple Core Image raw engine.

Steps

1) Open Affinity Photo

2) File>Open

3) Select attached Canon CR2 RAW image>Open

4) Notice CR2 RAW image opens in Develop Persona and is split into multiple parts and parts of image are replicated (see attached screenshot)

Desired

Entire Canon CR2 RAW image is displayed in Develop persona without being split or replicated

Notes

I don't know when the issue began, but it was fairly recent.  I believe it may have started after upgrading to macOS Mojave.  The issue has not always occurred and this camera used to work fine with Affinity and Apple Core Image raw engine.

Issue does not occur when using Serif Labs raw engine.  However, Serif Labs engine does not properly support T7i/800D RAW files in Affinity 1.6.7.

Issue occurs in Affinity 1.7 Beta when using Apple Core image raw engine.  It does not occur when using Serif Labs raw engine.  The Serif Labs RAW engine in Affinity 1.7 Beta does a better job of handing the Canon CR2 RAW Image.

Issue occurs regardless of where image is stored on hard drive.  Tested from desktop, Pictures folder and external drive.

Issue occurs when opening from right-click context menu.

Issue DOES NOT occur when opening in Affinity Photo from Photos Edit With menu.  However, this bypasses the Develop persona in Affinity.  (This is a possible workaround for now)

Issue does not occur in Photos or Preview.
