musicfed Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 hi guys I am new to Affinity Photo and Designer but bought both iPad apps for my iPad pro and love them now I wonder whether I would be better of switching to the desktop apps for my mac and upgrading to a drawing monitor (such as the XP Pen Artist or similar). but here's the question: most designers use drawing tablets as their favourite software doesn't exist for iPad. what about Affinity, as their iPad apps are supposedly almost identical in features? does it still make sense, if you only plan to use Affinity apps, to switch to desktop? thanks Quote
toltec Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 I use the desktop app, have a tablet/convertible (below) and an iPad. All work really well and have their advantages, The biggest drawback with the iPad is the black interface and quite a few missing features. I use one of these and love it because it works like a tablet or like a PC and runs the full version of Affinity. I also have a fast i7 desktop with a 27" monitor because sometimes, size does matter. musicfed Posted January 14, 2019 Author Posted January 14, 2019 hi what do you mean the drawback of the tablet is the missing feature? you refer to the iPad app? do you find you use the desktop app more than the ipad version or the other way around? Quote
toltec Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 Sorry, I meant iPad, not tablet The iPad interface is only available in black, which I find hard to see. I prefer grey There are several features on the Desktop version that are not on the iPad versions. Not to mention a 27" screen Quote Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions.
Staff MEB Posted January 14, 2019 Staff Posted January 14, 2019 Hi musicfed, Yes, the iPad version uses a touch based interface (which differs from the desktop) and doesn't include all the desktop's version funcionality. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
musicfed Posted January 14, 2019 Author Posted January 14, 2019 ah ok cool. I guess I read somewhere the feature set was almost identical but it's not the case Quote

I think you don't quite understand the nature of the fabulous investment opportunities I suspect @toltec would like to offer to a particular type of person. There should be lots of them because according to a quote attributed to P.T. Barnum, one is born every minute.
