I am fairly new to Affinity Designer and I love the program. However, I use background images from Google Images for some of my productions. I usually save the image to a folder on my computer and then open them in Designer and adjust the size to fit my production. However, I have noticed lately that when I save an image from Google that is currently, for instance, 3840X2160, it is saved in my folder at 300X168. When I open it in Designer, it is extremely pixelated and I can't use it. Is there a solution?

Hi Choo Choo and Welcome to the Forums,

It sounds like you are saving the thumbnail of the image and not actual full size image.  Taking a 300x168 pixel image into Designer will result in pixelation and unless you can save the full size image, there isn't really anything you can do to improve such a small image loading in Designer.

I'd suggest using the Visit Site option that Google Images has, which will take you to the page where the image is. You can then try right clicking on the image and selecting Open in New Window and that should open the full size image in a new tab and allow you to save it :)

Google image just shows you a smaller preview of the initial image which stems from some internet location here. As stokerg said, the 3840 x 2160 size it shows refers to the original picture and not to the smaller preview one. - However some browsers like for example Firefox do offer to perform a right click on those preview images and select "Show graphic" from a right click menu, which in turn tries to open then the original sized image link the image stems from. An image shown up this way is usually the full size image then which you might want to store/save loacally instead.
