Ron Potter
V1.7 Beta still does not remember Crop Tool settings or allow a favourite Crop Tool setting. Very disappointing. I have not bothered using V1.6.5 because of this omission, and will certainly not be using V1.7 (when it is released) unless this feature has been included. At present, using this product to crop a batch of photographs to, say, 6"x4" is an inefficient and time-wasting process. Chris_K
Hi Ron Potter The crop will default to the size of the image you have open, but if you have a commonly used crop size or ration this can be saved as a preset for you to recall quickly Thanks Dave Quail, Rick G and PaulAffinity 3 Serif Europe Ltd - Check the latest news at www.affinity.serif.com
Ron Potter
Thank you. But, for example, I often need to crop many photographs to 6:4 ratio. Whether a ratio can be saved as a favourite or a default is not my concern. I would like to be able to select, say, 6:4 and then have it automatically applied at least during the one editing session. Steps
I see the point. I prefer 3:2 ratio and shoot my images in that. Now it's "unconstrained" everytime. Saving the last used selection should not be too hard. I'm sure this is a low hanging fruit. Jowday and Saijin_Naib 2 Windows 10 Pro x64 (1903). Guzzi
Hi! In 1.7. Also: 1. Eingabe bei "Einheiten' Zentimeter. Das war noch in Ordnung. 2. LeoC
I only have understand the main issue, but the details I've missed due to the fact that my German is not that good anymore. I was looking for an answer on how to create presets for cropping. A lot of things don't work as I imaging based on the experience I have with Photoshop. - I was able to create a preset with a custom ratio, the second one I made was not working because it had the same ratio as the first one - It is not possible to remove a preset - the creation of a preset for Absolute Dimensions is not accepted, it has the same ratio as the first preset. What am I doing wrong, I can't find no help function for this, no instruction, nor a tutorial. Reading the forum it is an issue but I have no idea where to find 'Create preset for Cropping'. I'm using AP 1.6 since a week, but I already have an old version because I see version 1.6.
Gnobelix
Cheers On 1/14/2019 at 1:05 PM, Guzzi said: Hi! LeoC
You can easily change units in 1.6 by using you get the information of the picture and a field to choose the units to like to work in In AF Beta 1.7 you have a good working crop tool which gives you the option to set dimensions and dpi. It works exactly the same as in PS, but no option to create preset Just waiting for a good preset option and the workflow will be as fast as PS. That's the only issue I really have with AP it takes really more time to handle a bunch of photo's because you have to resize each photo before you crop the image in the right dimension Gnobelix

Hello Guzzi, almost all photos are dimensioned in px. so it is not surprising that the affinity photo indicates the photo size in px. Before changing the crop tool to Absolute Size, set the ruler to cm, This can be reached with a left click, in the upper left corner of the ruler. (see screenshot) Then the desired units are displayed and do not change to px. I hope it helps. Bei mir sieht es etwas anders aus: For me it looks a little different: Aber ich hab e meine Lösung gefunden, jedoch nur in Pixel. In Zentimeter klappt es nicht: But I found my solution, but only in pixels. In centimeters, it does not work: I have created a preset in 'Mode', which I have to call again for each photo. LeoC
Hi Guzzi, In AP beta 1.7.109 it's working fine in millimeters too. After clicking the crop tool you choose Absolute Size and first you put the units on Millimeters, then you choose DPI and the dimension you like to have. . When that data is put in you can easily create a preset, which you have to choose for each photo again as you already stated. Good luck. LeoC PS. DPI doesn't tell anything about the photo, but only how you wanna use it. For instance MS Word and PowerPoint cuts the quality down to 150dpi, but for quality printing you need at least 300dpi based on the dimension you've chosen
Guzzi
Hi LeoC! Thanks for your message, but it's all so hard. I've set the default to millimeters and as soon as I enter something, I'm back at Pixel. I spend a lot of time on things that are not working as they should. It spoils the enjoyment of this program.
