Two problems with typography

Recommended Posts

First....my english sucks....

and

Already replaced adobe with affinity

>>After typing in Chinese, the cursor will move the position. (Other positions in the text, not the end of the word)

>>No typesetting rules for punctuation. For example, punctuation in Chinese paragraphs cannot appear in front of a line of text...This makes me a headache.. (can refer to AI...)

Serif should make more effort to support international typography, if it's not their top priority I don't know what should be.

For example:

  • Chinese script: +1340 million users
  • Arabic script: +660 million users
  • Devanagari: +820 million users
  • Bengali: +300 million users

If not making the product usable for more than half of earth's population, I don't think what should take more priority than that.

<pedantry>Those figures add up to about 3.1 billion (i.e. thousand million) which was more than half of the world’s population at the turn of the century but it’s a considerably smaller proportion now.</pedantry>

For the avoidance of doubt, I acknowledge that there are a huge number of potential users who shouldn’t be ignored.

I have mentioned the biggest languages "For example" as I said, if you count other languages with smaller populations, the numbers will add up. And even 3.1 billion out of 7.7 (according to wikipedia) is not considerably small at all.
