JonFiver Posted January 5, 2019 Share Posted January 5, 2019 Hey guys, I am trying to create a logo wherein the background of the logo contains a label shape that is made of two intertwined shapes. The solid shape is both in front of the outlined shape as well as behind it (see attached photos). Question: Is there an easy to create this look using just two shapes or will I have two use a line to complete appearance of intertwined shapes? Thanks! v_kyr Posted January 5, 2019 Share Posted January 5, 2019 Hmm a combine won't do it here and probably destroy the intertwined effect, since one rect would always be placed then completely to the top that way. - Only if you can combine the white line and the red rect in a graceful manner you can reduce it to two shapes/curves here. carl123 Posted January 5, 2019 Share Posted January 5, 2019 CTRL+Click the White Curve's layer Thumbnail to make a selection Switch to the Red Curve Layer and Erase the part where the White layer should show through (a Mask layer will be created automatically) Note: Some rasterisation will occur on export but there are only 2 shapes (as requested). Honestly, the easiest thing is to do what you've done. You just need to enable snapping (specifically: to object geometry) to get the placement to be precise. That being said... and in the spirit of all the creative solutions here, I give you yet another two object solution. Well it includes making a group... but that's not an object Just a mental exercise here. Not recommending this. • Group is set to Normal (iow NOT Passthrough) • Red layer is set to Hue so white shows through (in this case, could also use Screen or maybe one or two others) • FX on red layer is a gradient overlay (of the same red) covering only 2/3rds of the layer and set to Normal.... so the white doesn't show through.
