odoug04
I am trying to remove the background of a particular image (attached below) but and I know that using blend modes on a fill layer I can remove the black and replace it with whatever colour I want, but I want the background to be transparent and I can't find a way to do that using blend modes which seem to be the best way to do this. I was wondering if there was a way to do this or a better method for removing the background of this image
Staff Dan C Posted January 4, 2019 Staff Share Posted January 4, 2019 Hi odoug04, Welcome to the forums There are a few ways of doing this, as your background is all one colour you could use blend ranges on the pixel layer. Select the image, then go to blend modes through the cog icon in the top right of the layers panel. Now in the left hand box - source layer ranges - click in the centre of the graph line to create a new node, then select the top left hand node and drag this to the bottom left of the grapha and you'll see your background disappear! See my below GIF for this in action: stokerg and odoug04 1 1 Quote Please note - I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time. carl123
Another way... Layer > Invert Filters > Colours > Erase White Paper Layer > Invert Dan C and odoug04 1 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. JimmyJack
In this case I would: • Copy • Rasterize to mask (I know, I know... doesn't involve blend modes ) Dan C
