Keyboard Shortcut for Toggle UI

Hi,

I can't seem to find the keyboard shortcut for Toggle UI.

From the dropdown menu under view > toggle UI ( with a tiny right pointing arrow)

Haven't a clue what that might be.. tried a variety of things but not luck

Can you help?

It looks like the right arrow key, although for me it looks a bit different – not sure if that's a newer macOS thing – but it should be TAB by default anyway.

tried the tab  , no luck in toggling UI

the right arrow simply moves the image over one pixel at a time.

....Perplexed....

Didn't consider about the OS .. I'm running Serra on  an older Mac workstation > 2010, could that be the problem?

just don't know what that symbol is ?

On my Mac keyboard it's the TAB key which looks like that. Under the tools preferences (keyboard shortcuts settings) you can look what key is associated to it and also change that probably to your needs!

That's got it.. Although,  even though my TAB  button was set to toggle UI... It  didn't do the job for some reason.

So I assigned another letter and its working perfectly, thanks again.

The trick is that the tab shortcut to toggle the UI on and off does not work when the cursor is set for 'text', but if it is set for, say, move (v) or node (a) the shortcut works.

That is because in text entry mode the tab key inserts a tab, just like in a word processor.
