Paul Qwerty
Trying to focus merge three images. Go to File->New Focus Merge, add in the three images and then press ok. Seems to process but the end result is not a merged image. See attached images trying to merge and screen shot of final merge. Any suggestions? R C-R
Judging from what is being displayed in the Sources window, it looks like the desk 2 & desk 3 files were merged but the desk 1 one was not. I am not sure why. When I try the same thing with the jpegs dragged from your first post to my desktop (which include "thumb" in the names, suggesting they have been altered by the forum software) perhaps not to surprisingly I get this instead: I have very little experience with focus merging in Affinity, but maybe this will suggest something more helpful to someone who does. carl123
You could try File > New Stack instead Add your 3 images and click OK (It will look pretty bad until the next step) On the Layers panel, select the Mid Range stack operator from the Stack operator pop-up menu on the Live Stack Group layer. To get rid of any ghosting you can mask each pixel layer and "paint out" the ghosting on each layer or just add a Haze Removal filter, (which is easier and may be enough for some images) PS Don't expect miracles for the images you have supplied but I am assuming this is just an exercise Results below: firstdefence and John Rostron 2 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. firstdefence
I would also try creating at least 5 if not 7 images to focus merge, more is better. Peter Rau
I have the same problem. Previously Affinity worked fine but now it does not want to focus merge anymore.
Staff MEB Posted August 20, 2020 Staff Share Posted August 20, 2020 Hi @Peter Rau Welcome to Affinity Forums What happens when you start a Focus Merge operation? You add the files through the New Focus Merge dialog, click OK then what happens? Do you mind providing the files you are using for us to test/try? I will provide an upload link for you if you are willing to do so. Thanks. Aad Slingerland
To check this I just re-did a focus merge of a set of macro foto's which I performed in april 2019. So at least a previous version of AF. The results were absolutely equal. So AF 1.8.4 or 1.8.3 or the version before that cannot be hold responsible. My best guess is that you have way to LESS images for this to work.
