Affinity Photo - crashing when writing to Drobo

Recommended Posts

I'm using the latest Affinity Photo on MacOs Mojave.  When I open a photo from my Drobo 5N, it loads fine.  When I try to save the file back, I get the spinning beachball and Affinity stops responding.   Saving the same image to my local drive works as expected.

The file always damaged on the write back to the Drobo, with a file size of 0k.

None of my other software exhibits this problem.

Just to confirm if your nas is still awake or not, before saving, open Finder, navigate to the folder where you want to save the file and create a new folder, just to make sure the NAS is awake. Then try to save.

This is a real problem.  Yes, the NAS is awake, as I am saving files from FCPX and Pages.. to the same directory.. but try to save anything out of Affinity Photo or Designer... Beachball City...   eventually, the whole finder freezes.  Only way out - that works sometimes - is to shut down the NAS... the file save dialog in Affinity comes back to life, and and I can save to some local drive.  The beachball soon returns and I have to forcequit the app to get back to normal.

A real productivity killer..
