Browsing in “Import from Photos” on iPad

Recommended Posts

On iPad, in Affinity Photo (AP), I try to import from Photos. That works fine, but the browsing is difficult due to two issues:

1) When opening the import dialog, I see my photos folders. However, they appear unordered, see the enclosed image which is part of the dialog within AP. The folders go like 2007-01-07 2015-07-26, 2013-08-17, 2014-06-28, 2006-11-11-b, etc. I have hundreds of those.

Is there a way of sorting them correctly after name? (And hence after date).

2) When selecting a folder, I see the images, but only as small icons about 3x3 cm. Any attempt to view the actual image, results in it being imported.

Is there a way to preview the images without opening/importing them?

For example like the standard photo browser in the iPad Photos app?

Regards,

Take a look at this post, my Siri shortcut allows you to browse and search your photos in the IOS photos app then using the share option to open directly in AP.

Hello, I just started with Affinity photo.

I want to import a lot of photos from photos app, but i could only do it one by one, I tried the work arround with documents, but I select all and transfer to Affinity, but just one of the selected photos is imported. is it possible to Import one complete Album from photos app in one new Project in Affinity photo?

thanks

@Beginner1 One way is to open AP. Now create a New Project. Tap on the New Project (yes it’s empty but we will put the imported photos here to keep it all tidy). Now slide up the iOS springboard from bottom of screen and drag the iOS photos icon onto the screen and lift your finger. You should now have photos sitting on top to one side of your AP app. Go to Camera roll/folder and tap select. Tap all the photos you wish to import. Now place finger on one of the selected photos and drag across to the AP folder. Lift your finger and the files will be copied over.

You don't really need to create a folder for this to work but it makes it easier to manage lots of imported photos which you would otherwise have to drag one by one into a folder.

Remember, there is no easy way to delete photos from AP. If you import 100 photos, you would need to manually delete each photo to remove from AP. Hopefully Serif will improve this in a future release.

Hello,

Thanks I tried this before but didn´t work, now I tried it again and it works. My next Question you allready answered too, so no way to select more than one photo and than delete a bunch of photos. Also strange it is not possible to delete a complete project with some photos in it, just when all photos are deletet, than it is possible to delete the Project.

Hope that will be changed very soon, because this are absolut Basics, that should be possible in every program.

But thanks for your help

Now I checked the transfer and I selected 252 photos but in Affinity just 244 are imported, and they are not sorted as in the photos app so it is not possible to see which photos are not imported. is there any way to sort them in Affinity as in the photo app.

sorry but this are just my first stepps with Affinity and Nothing works fine, very disappointing.

You can manually arrange the photos by dragging and dropping within the project folder. Unfortunately no way to do this automatically. A lot of the limitations with naming/ordering /accessing files are due to Apples iOS 'sandbox' approx. Apple limit what one app can do do to another. It’s more secure but requires getting used to workarounds. AP itself is a brilliant app but it’s early development so a few bugs still to iron out still. :)
