affinity photo bokeh problem

is the bokeh with duplicated image and masking then painting over it with black removed ? i cant seem to make it working 

tutorial in this video  , i did exactly like in the video , but when i paint in black nothing happens, the mask is selected

Could you please provide a copy of your .afphoto file so we can look into this for you? Alternatively a screenshot including your Layers Studio may be enough information for us.

Make sure the Opacity of the Paint Brush Tool is set to 100% in the context toolbar.

Also check that the Flow is set to 100% and Protect Alpha is unticked.

thanks guys for the replies, it was my fault because my background image didnt have any bokeh, i just noticed that in his photo the background had already some bokeh but it wasnt extreme

That should not matter -- I tested with an image that was crystal clear with everything in it in sharp focus, & by following the steps in the tutorial I got a nice soft bokeh effect.

wow really? that means i have a problem now, can you upload it here so i can check

I can't upload my test file because the images I used for my tests are copyrighted & I don't have the rights to post them to public forums. Besides, there is nothing I could upload that would show you anything the tutorial doesn't already show better.

If you are sure every setting suggested in the earlier posts is as it should be, the only reason I can think of about why it isn't working for you is that there is nothing to maximize or blur in your image -- it doesn't have to include any bokeh to begin with, but it can't be a solid color with no variation at all.
