Brush loses resolution: how?

Recommended Posts

Post title is how it looks to me. I was brushing with the brush tool, using “regular” brush and color replacement brush. For the most part, the brushes behaved with correct resolution and nuance but suddenly, began to produce chunky, stair-stepped strokes, the like of which I haven’t seen since the Reagan Administration.

Screen capture attached, area I’m referring to outlined in red.

Do these brushes place inordinate demands on hardware resources such that high-resolution performance is sporadic?

Thanks for the response, Lee. I don’t recall whether I tried changing the zoom level, and the next time I went into the file to tinker, the brushes all seemed to behave normally.

If I have the problem again, I’ll remember to change the zoom level and notice what happens.
