DaveMustang Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 Can there be a way to share assets and symbols across devices? Making one on an iPad and then using it on a Mac or vice verse, would be greatly beneficial. Other than placing them within a document and staring that between devices, and then adding them to a category seems really cumbersome and frankly, unintuitive and clunky for such powerful software Quote
v_kyr Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 At least Assets can be imported/exported in AD ... Assets (desktop) Assets Studio (iPad) ... and shared this way. - Symbols are in contrast document bound and can't be explicitly imported/exported. R C-R Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 Symbols are document specific objects -- they are not shared with any other document. So regardless of which device you open the document with, you should see the same symbols in it if it has any. Assets can generally only be shared via the export/import procedure; however, for the desktop versions only there is an alternative: create a document, add assets to it, & from the Assets Studio panel's 'hamburger' menu, select "Embed in current document." Do that, & when opened in another desktop app on another device, you will get this: AFAIK, the iPad version neither supports the "Embed in current document" option nor will it offer to import embedded assets. carl123 1 Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.5.7 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 All 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.7
