How can I add a stroke to text without the weird corners? See the below attachment that shows how Affinity Designer is handling stroked text compared to Illustrator. Is there a setting somewhere that can change stroke settings so it is handled more like Illustrator?

I don't know what Miter is but it did the trick.

Miter: Sets the length of the extension of Miter joins to create either sharp or flat corners.

It should really say ‘Miter/Mitre Limit’. That aside, there’s a great explanation here:

Yup Mitre is the how I would spell it, I think it was a typo in the manual I copied from. I also think the default setting should be more like 3

That’s just a difference between US and UK English (like liter/litre). What I was actually trying to say is that the label for that control should really include the word ‘Limit’.
