Snapping corner of triangle to another object

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I want to snap the corner of the following triangle to the corner of the other shape displayed. I tried fiddling around with the snapping tool but when I align the shapes and press shift it always overlaps and doesn't connect the corner.

Any tips would be highly appreciated!

Use guides and make sure snap to guides is checked. Create a guide vertically and horizontally and snap both shapes to the guides intersection.

The only way I could get this to work is to convert the triangle to curves, have (minimally) either "Snap to shape key points" or "Snap to object geometry" enabled in the Snapping Manager, selecting all of its nodes with the Node Tool, & dragging one of the nodes onto a node of the other shape.

It is the same for other shapes besides triangles, so apparently they must be converted to curves & all their nodes selected for this to work.

If you want to retain the shape as a triangle

In the Transform Panel

Make a note of the rotation angle, then reset it to zero

Snap the corners as required

Still in the Transform panel select the bottom right rotation node

Re-input the rotation value you had previously
