Copy Selection to Another Photo

Seems to be an issue with me.  I have a JPG which is a VW with a Christmas Tree on top.  I want to replace the VW with my VW and save it.  I have been able to select part of my picture but Affenity refuses to copy the selection to the other picture.  I did get a partial copy as a partial copy blue outline but that was it. Thanks

You will be better off using the Pen Tool to create an outline curve then filling it to create a selection with Layer > Selection from layer and then copy and pasting it into the card image.

Had a play this morning: Beetlemas.afphoto Saved with history so you can jog back and forth in the history panel. 

I made a selection using a small selection brush to go around the edges of the tree neatly, I increased the brush size to fill in the selection and copy/pasted it to a new layer. The bottom of the tree was tinted reddish so I used the Colour (Hue) Replacement Tool to change its hue from red to green, then I copied the tree again and pasted it into the beetle photo, I scaled it down, and blurred the edges a bit to remove the sharp cut. I made a new pixel layer, picked a dark red (bottom of door near front wheel arch) and created the shadow with a spray Brush.

You could go further and shade the tree to reflect the light direction etc but I can have all the fun lol!
