For a time, I worked at a local venue that owned two Steinways, one 7' & the other 9'. They were stored in a small temperature & humidity controlled room below & to the side of the stage. But the venue had no on-stage elevator like in the video. Instead, the entire orchestra pit was on a massive elevator, so to move one onto the stage meant lowering the pit, moving the piano from the room to the pit, raising the pit to stage level, & rolling it onto the stage. Because there was a small gap between the pit & stage level, the piano's wheels could not cross the gap smoothly, so the pianos lived on "spiders," metal frames with large wheels, similar to the 03542-3-4 model on this page. That made moving them an easy 3 person job ... except that the storage room was so small the pianos had to be stored nose-to-tail to fit & the rest of the under stage area was crowded with storage for around 25 racks of music stands & chairs for the orchestra, so we typically had to move 15 or so out onto the pit to be able to get to a piano & move it onto the pit, moving the racks around as we went. For concerts that did not use the pit, it was set to audience floor level, & used for additional audience seating. So it would have been impossible to do what they did in the video -- insurance regulations would not have permitted audience members to go for a ride on the pit!
