Drag to layer...

Hi, in CorelDraw I can select an item on the page and drag it to a layer in the layer palette and it will move to that layer. I wish we could do that in AD. Is that something you might consider?

That's already possible, as long as the target is an actual (Layer) or a (Group).

It's only possible to drag objects/layers from the Layers panel to another layer, not from the canvas which is what Phil_rose is suggesting/requesting.

That's correct. I have to locate the object in the Layers palette before dragging it to the new layer. Not hard or a big chore but it would be nice!

I was going to suggest that locating the object in the Layers palette should be simple, because the Layers panel has auto-scroll enabled by default. But I find that the auto-scroll doesn't seem to work for me in Designer 1.6 or 1.7, on Windows. That means that only a right-click and "Find in Layers Panel" (or Ctrl+k) seem to work.

Am I doing something wrong, or expecting something I shouldn't expect?

It does seem to work for me. The only thing it doesn't do is to open up a group in the layers panel to show a selected 'child' inside a group. I wish I could help more.
