Affinity Publisher production work

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to create a project using simple functions such as text blocks (paragraph styles) and image blocks (with no effect pictures inside) and vectors, and then send that to a professional printer? Or is it really too risky to date in terms of rendering?
Clearly here is my question: Is it possible already to send to print a basic flyer at a professional printer?

Hello @Eastrip,

welcome to the forum.

It is possible to create a project and send that to a printer. But is it clever?

Affinity Publisher (APub) is not even officially released, it is a beta version. The release notes clearly state that it is not ready for production:

As this is a beta it is considered to be not suitable for production use. This means that you should not attempt to use it for commercial purposes or for any other activity where you may be adversely affected by the application failing, including the total loss of any documents.

You may be lucky and create successfully a business card and send it to a printer. But if you need to guarantee your customer that you are able to open and modify the design you are in trouble.

APub is surprisingly stable and capable. But it is still only made for tests and playing around. I would not use it for any serious work.

Cheers :)

If the result is a good PDF to send to the print establishment, then it's a good PDF. Do inspect it well.

There are several people here that have been sending some PDFs from APub out to print establishments without issue. But the caveat Serif includes for each beta that dominik highlights does apply.

I work on a photobook I plan to order in the next weeks and hope for the best. :-D

If it goes wrong maybe Serif can help me and if not there should be a possibility to use an older version to export everything as PSD and an non-rasterized PDF as fallback backup. So my plan.
