ONSO
Hello, I trust all is well. First let me say I love the Affinity eco-system. It's by far the best. Quick question, can guides usage on the canvas be added as a feature. I'm sure like myself a lot user create content on the canvas prior to adding it to their final creation — having access to the guides would truly be a great asset when aligning elements. Please add. Once again a BIG THANKS goes out to the Affinity team for all the hard work on a truly great software bundle. ONSO
Psenda, Thanks for the reply, but using guides is not the issue. I would like to use guides on the canvas[ grey background around the art-board] When I work on my illustrations I build elements on the canvas and then move into place on the art-board. As it stands now you can't see guides past the edge of your work area. Thanks Quote 15"-inch MacBook Pro, 2017, 2.9GHz Intel Core i7 | 16Gb
Pšenda
You can also create auxiliary work artboards on the sides of the main artboard. Bert S
Hi there! great software, please add a function to align guides like in illustrator, that would be easy to create a personal quick grid. Thanks

Welcome to the Affinity forums, Bert. I'm not sure what Illustrator does, but is there something specific you need that the Grid Manager doesn't provide? (View > Grid and Axis Manager...) Bert S
Hi Walt, thanks for your prompt reply! So what you can do on illustrator with guides is the following. Drag and drop some guides in the document just as in affinity. However, in Illustrator you can grab the guides with your move tool and just edit that selection in the align/distribute tool. E.g.: I want to distribute 3 guides evenly by a simple click, so I just select them and click on distribute evenly. I understand that there are some workarounds for that in the guides manager. But this is a useful feature I used a lot in illustrator. Maybe it is worthwhile implementing it as well? Then the following issue I had just right now: a triangle with two corners adjusted simultaneously by the corner tool, looked great yesterday. Today I opened the files (one basic file for the icons overview and one file for a seamless pattern) and in both files one of the corners went from rounded to sharp again. So all the shapes that I've copied have to be adjusted back again. Very long and painful process. Help needed please. Bert
walt.farrell
I've no idea what Serif might consider, Bert. The result that you're asking for (evenly distributed guides) is possible in 1.7 using the Guides manager, though the method is different. If I had to guess I doubt that the Affinity line would be changed to operate as you mention, but that's purely a guess. For your corner problem, I can only suggest that you start your own topic to ask about that, as that usually gets better results in the forums than piggy-backing on something unrelated. Also, if you have something recreateable then it can help if you provide a sample file that demonstrates it.
