Edit in Photo from Designer

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have the betas of Designer and Photo installed. With Designer opened I see 'Edit in Photo' is greyed out and unavailable. Is this as it should be?

Thanks!

Phil

It does? Hmm. Any thoughts on what I might be able to do to try to make it work?

Thanks!

Are you on Mac? If so, maybe there is a bug.

Do you have the latest version installed?

What have you got opened? Try opening a photo in designer and see if it is working. as it works here for me on my windows set up

If it is there great. Then reopen what you had and if it is just some vectors and the thing is blanked out you may have a bug. OR open a second document and see if it is ther for a few vectors as they did have a but that was related to only one document being open

I just tried it as I didn't know it could be done in the beta version. I created a new document in Designer, placed a jpg image on the page and selected "Edit in Photo".

Photo started and opened the document. But then..... The document disapears from Designer and after editing, export or not, I can't close Photo as it always display the following:

"At least one file is currently being opened. Please wait for files to load before quitting the application." From then on I only can escape this by closing Photo with Tasdk Manager.

That sir is a problem that neither Peter nor I are seeing. That may call for what they call a control runup (Hold down the control key while you start designer and rest all the personalizations - something may be corrupt) or even an unistall /reinstall but you might want one of the greater luminaries give you some direction if you are nor comfortable with that from we end users (uou can back out of a control runup, just watch the presented menu)

Yes, same problem here. Closed with Task Manager, too.

Try quitting and re-opening both applications if you haven't already since installing.

When one of them is launched it sets a flag somewhere that the other one checks upon startup in order to determine if the other one is available.

If you started Designer before Photo created that file then Designer won't recognize the presence of Photo until after you quit and restart Designer, and vice versa.

I don't think it works that way. If one app is not started, the other one should do it and open the file, too.

Have you run both Designer and Photo beta at least once already? It's may be the first run of each that lets the other know of its existence.

Both apps have been run many many times for many hours...

This is with the beta versions. With regular versions Photo does close normally, but the file in Designer is gone.

The recent beta versions of both have?

The betas are independent of the released versions for purposes of these menu items...

Beta with beta and release with release. The beta of Designer will open the beta version of Photo (1.7), same for the release versions (1.6), Designer will open the release version of Photo. All are the most recent versions.

I have not seen it operating that way. If I have one or the other open first or not at all, it does not seem to matter if I am understanding you correctly

Sorry. Been away for a while. Closed and reopened both apps. Restarted machine. Nothing makes it not be greyed out. Started new docs, opened just a photo...

Thanks for all the replies! Any more ideas would be great!

What I am describing is only the first time it is opened after it is installed.

After that it doesn't matter.

For me this is the answer! I had installed Photo beta but not run it. Now I have run it and total success! I think I hadn't agreed to the terms of service and so on and that was the problem Thanks all.
