Hi all,

Is there a way to clone a layer?. Let me explain further, let's say I have a layer or layer group and I want to have many clones of that layer/group in a picture and if I need to change the looks of all of them I go to the parent one and all the clones will update. Something like instances in Designer.

I hope this makes sense :D

Cheers,
Juan

I'm afraid no. Symbols are only an option in Designer and not Photo.

Could it be considered to add this feature to Photo?

And why do not you use Designer? Photo, like a photo editor, will always be weaker for drawing and graphics.

Affinity Photo 1.6.5.135, Affinity Designer 1.6.5.135. Affinity Store.
Windows 10 Pro, Version 1809, Build 17763.195.
Latitude E5570, i5-6440HQ 2.60 GHz, 8 GB, Intel HD Graphics 530, 1920 x 1080.

I understand, but from my point of view a clone layer or virtual layer is feature that is not related exclusively to graphics, it is just a generic feature.

At the end it could be like the smart objects in PS where if you have many duplicated layers of the same smart object and you change the original one, all of them will be updated accordingly.

Cheers,
Juan
