Jumping a Selection to a new layer?

Yes I can and figured it out... thanks...

Sarcasm? If so, hit cmd+D and you get the selection as new layer. Than export this layer. Keep care that "just this layer without Background" is selected.

cmd-j

ops, sorry... my personal shorty, cause all other apps uses cmd+d for duplicate... i do not know for what the "j" stands, "juplication"???? But yeah, DEFAULT is cmd+j, my fault!

Cmd J in Photoshop refers to duplicating a layer... why "jump" a layer instead of duplicate a layer?  I don't know.  The keyboard shortcut cmd j does work and I can duplicate a layer from a selection... not sure what was going on when I tried to do so the first time... evidently cmd d also duplicates a layer ... thanks for responses... I have photoshop on my iMac Pro but use a mac mini most of the time and have Affinity installed... Affinity is good for small projects and I can use on the mac mini ... but having to learn my way around.. tools, short cuts etc...
