Facing pages and thumbnails

Recommended Posts

Still liking this software, but a couple of initial suggestions. Why is there an option for vertical facing pages? Perhaps there is an application for this, but after nearly 30 years in print, I've never come across it?! Personally, I'd remove that option. In regards to the then presented page thumbnails, it is best, as per InDesign, to flow that as they look in reality. It's confusing to see a page next to (facing) the cover. It contradicts your choice and suggests a problem. A small thing, but again, reference InDesign for the correct behaviour. Thanks!

As I read that, I looked up at the calendar hanging above my printer, which is organized as vertical facing pages :)

So, while I'm not sure how often it would be useful for books, in other types of publications it may have more use.

Hi J Clark,
When creating a new document using File ▸ New (or File ▸ Document Setup..., Layout tab if you are working on an existing one) you can select on which side you want the pages to start - make sure you have your set to Right (almost on the bottom). Note that the Arrange dropdown must be set to Horizontal (otherwise this doesn't make any sense). This way you will not have a facing page agains a cover on the right.

daily desk "flip" calendars would also fall into that category...

If you search Google for "vertical facing pages" among the first few results are forum threads with people asking for that feature to be added to InDesign.
