Mark Oehlschlager Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 I've been working through the Help Files for Publisher 1.7.0.192. It would be very good for the final shipping version of Publisher to include the ability to create Paragraph Styles with multiple nested Character Styles. For example, one might want the first three words of a paragraph to be formatted as bold small caps, followed by italics up to the first period, before resuming the base paragraph style. This could also be useful for tables, menu items, etc., where one might want a product name in one style, followed by a tab with dot leader, followed by a price in another style. There is nothing currently within the Help files for creating nested Character styles within a Paragraph style, but I see in the Paragraph style edit dialogue box that there is a relevant item labeled "Initial Words". Here one can can set up a nested Character style to apply to a specified number of words, or up to an "End Character". But this feature needs to become more robust. Within InDesign, one can set up a sequence of nested Character Styles to apply to the beginnings of specific Paragraph styles. Moreover, one can use operators such as "up to" or "through" to specify that Character Styles apply to sentences, lines, characters, digits, or words. Nested Character Styles can be terminated by a character, word, line or sentence count, or they can be terminated by tabs or other specially inserted characters. Please add the ability to create Paragraph Styles with multiple nested Character Styles for the final shipping version of Publisher. EmilyGoater 1 Quote
