Changing OS

Recommended Posts

Hi, welcome to the Affinity forums!

Each licence is platform/OS-specific and there is no method of transferring any licence from one platform to a different one.  Unfortunately, you will have to buy a Windows licence, therefore for each of the Affinity products you wish to use on your new Windows computer.

Win 10 Pro, i7 6700K, 32Gb RAM, NVidia GTX1660 Ti and Intel HD530 Graphics

Long-time user of Serif products, chiefly PagePlus and PhotoPlus, but also WebPlus, CraftArtistProfessional and DrawPlus.  Delighted to be using Affinity Designer, Photo, and now Publisher, version 1 and now version 2.

iPad Pro (12.9") (iOS 17.4) running Affinity Photo and Designer version 1 and all three version 2 apps.

As Jeff says, you need to buy a separate Windows version to install on Windows or a Mac version to install on the Mac. Each version is purchased independently and each has its own licenses. It would not be possible to swap from one to the other.

That's quite disappointing to have to buy a brand new license. I get that the numbers are seperate and all but I would think proof of purchase would be good enough to swap OS. I'm not asking to leave it active on both OS, I thought it would be just simply deactivating the MacOS version and getting a key for the Windows version. I can even send the non blurred version to an official email.
