Bullets and Numbering > Outline Styles

Hi,

Publisher is missing Outline styles inside "Text > List" . Yes, it can be done something simmilar with "Increase/Decrease Level", but I can't find these schemes as shown on the pictures in attachment which I created in Quark.

BTW, finding the exact forum/topic could be much easier IMO if it is reorgainized like on the pictures.

Thanks @obef. I tried, but I can't do it as I want. "Increase/Decrease level" are under "Text > List" menu, not in "Paragraph > Bullets and Numbering". Even the link you sent to me can't help.

The first picture seems to match the Numbered 1/2/3 text styles in the default palette. The second picture you should be able to achieve by using a mixture of number and bullet styles and chaining them together with Next level. Maybe you could explain more precisely what you are trying to achieve.

You can create the styles for the individual levels and set the "Next Level" of each to the style you created for the next lower level.

So you might have styles "My L1", "My L2", and "My L3", where "My L1" is your top level, "My L2" the next level, etc., and set "Next Level" of "My L1" to "My L2", of "My L2" to "My L3", etc.

Although they aren't available in the default style sheet, you can add them yourself. I'm not seeing anything that Publisher can't do. We can do multi-level lists with numbering like 1.3.2.5 etc, and we can mix bullets with numbers at different levels, and we can chain styles together so that the tab key advances to the next list style.

It could be fantastic if you can redefine this:

In “Text > List”

1. remove “Increase/Decrease Level” and spare the shortcuts for something else;
2. “Restart Numbering” should be an icon in Context Toolbar;
3. “Bullet/Number” should be renamed as “Bullet/Number Levels” and they could be used for predefining numbers and bullets like in pictures bullets.png and numbers.png. (I forgot to add option for coloring bullets and numbers in the pictures I attached.)

All bullets and numbers should be right aligned only (IMO there is no need for any other kind of alignment).

In “Context Toolbar, “Paragraph” and “Text Styles > Create Paragraph Styles” there should be only icons for “Numbers” and “Bullets” to choose from. No need for existing shemes.
