burock
Hi, Went a bit bananas trying to do this.. I created a 1500x1500px icon, and then tried various ways to export it as barbuttonitem for various sizes (being all squares) 22px, 25px, 32px, 64px, 128px, 256px etc.. And the methods I chose were: Builtin presets; OSx application icon part 32px.. and few others Made a custom icon preset with 22p, 3x, 44p 2x, 66p x3 Directly from the menu exported as PNG for above mentioned sizes.. But the icon is somehow always blurry as can be seen in the attachments.. Maybe I should increase the initial icon size from 1500x1500px to say 9000x9000px? Any advices before I snap my neck would be very helpful.. Thanks Burak.
Staff Gabe Posted November 28, 2018 Staff Share Posted November 28, 2018 Hi @burock, Welcome to the forums. How does the PNG look like if you import it back in Designer and view it at 100% zoom? Thanks, Gabe.
burock
It doesn't look blurry when opened with designer. I think I'm doing something wrong while exporting but couldn't figure out what. Well, mainly because I'm a coder rather then designer. I found a quick way of exporting as PDF and using it after I learned pdfs are vectorial so I'm using that format now.. The size is a bit bigger than expected but the result's ok (PDF 66K instead of a PNG 6K). I wish there were updated Affinity Design presets for such iOS icons and glyphs. Thanks all anyway. firstdefence
have you thought of going the other way in size and making the icon at the max size it will be displayed or as near as damn it? I just dragged out an iOS icon that was square-ish and drew a square to match it and created your icon design from that scale which was 84x84 I then grouped the components and created a slice from that group and exported it to png 24 using the preset 32w 32h and this is the result.
