Typography in Character panel - (split)

I would like to answer the question please try it, it is definitely possible that the typeface Acherus Grotesque doesn't actually support Superscript/Subscript. When other applications encounter fonts that don't support these OpenType features, they oftentimes "fake it" by shrinking the font size and transforming the layer upwards or downwards. We don't do that. Also, currently Figma does not communicate through the UI when/if these features are available or not, so it may appear to "not work".

It's definitely on our list of things we'd love to improve in the future, and as you already know, you got the eyes and ears of Dylan on it, so it's certainly on our radar!

The typography section is not meant for generic superscripts etc. It shows when a font specifically contains entries designed to be used as those characters. Not all fonts have anything in the unicode superscript section, so are (correctly) not enabled.

As Patrick mentioned, Typography does not work for all fonts. When it doesn't, try the Position and Transform section, and the "S" box which lets you choose between None, Superscript, and Subscript:

Good question, with Publisher development we are now more strict with this panel, and the position and transform section are always available and always fake the superscript, so will work for all fonts using the numbers and letters. The typography section is true to what the font declares it has support for. This was not previously true and has been corrected.
