evtonic3
I heal on a blank layer to avoid destroying the original layer so I put it on top. I noticed when I choose current layer and below I get super lag.
Old Bruce
In order to preserve the original why no try duplicating it and working on that. Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4 Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

I've just always liked to keep edits on their own layer. I used to not get lag. This is my concern.

We did log an issue in 1.6 because it was slower than 1.5 but in 1.6.7 it got closed as fixed (which it was!) so I think we need to go back to the developers and get them to take a look at this.
