Brother Theo Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 I followed the sky replacement tutorial: https://vimeo.com/131644949 But my results suck! Please take a look at the attached and tell me what I did wrong. Thx. Quote
firstdefence Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 It looks like you didn't make a tight enough selection so some of the white sky that was there has remained along the tree line edge creating that unnatural look. Secondly you have used a sky that doesn't fit the image, a softer sky would look more realistic and would probably work better with the tree line edge. To make a better selection zoom in so you can make a selection against the tree line more effectively. In the image below I made the selection with the selection brush and refined the edge by using a bit of feathering (1.5 - 2px) I duplicated the background layer so I had a copy to go back to and deleted the selection from the duplicate background layer. I turned off the original background layer, I dropped a new sky in behind the image and adjusted it's size and position and I also adjusted its saturation and luminosity using the HSL adjustment filter so that it suited the image more, its obviously a dull day so the sky has to represent that with muted colours.
