roysyb Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 Hi everyone, My Affinity Designer suddenly stopped exporting PSD, TIFF, SVG, files if there are layers in the artwork. Exporting to PNG, JPG, or flat TIFF works fine. Massage: "Error while exporting" Please help! All the best Roy Quote
roysyb Posted November 14, 2018 Author Posted November 14, 2018 For precision, if I want to have layers in the exported file then I get the export error Example: exporting from layered artwork to flat TIFF works fine, but if I specify "Save Affinity layers" then I get an export error, and the process is interrupted (same for SVG, PSD) Thank you for your help All the best Roy Quote
Staff Callum Posted November 14, 2018 Staff Posted November 14, 2018 Hi Roy, Welcome to the forums :) If you create a new document and add some quick shapes are you able to export it? If possible could you provide one of the .afdesign files in question? Thanks Callum Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
roysyb Posted November 14, 2018 Author Posted November 14, 2018 Hey Callum, Thanks a lot for your reply and welcome greetings I have made a test with new documents, and I could export them with no problem. Layers are present! So far so good. That intrigued me, and I have "investigated" the problematic file. I have found the problem by eliminating shapes from the composition until I got a successful export with no errors. The faulty shape is a kind of "fake" 3D effect, as seen in the Youtube tutorial 3D Affinity Designer Text Effect which I have used as a source of technical inspiration. I am attaching the file with the shape that Affinity Designer could not export correctly. The converted to curves font made a shape with an abnormal(?) amount of anchor points. I suppose that translating so many points into PSD layers caused the error. Having the source of trouble, how to avoid so many anchor points when multiple objects are flattened/joined together with "ADD" function? Eventually, how to make a 3D text in Affinity Designer with no tech problems that follow? Thanks! Roy text.afdesign Quote
