Peterbear
How do you ensure continuous page numbering when two master pages are used, one for chapter1 and another for chapter2?
James Galpin
On InDesign I have done this with a master and sub-master arrangement, where the master is based upon a sub-master that contained only the page number. I don't think you can do that on Publisher?
walt.farrell
You can put the page number field on both masters, and it will work just fine. Or, you could create a 3rd master just for the page number, and apply it to all pages, while applying the chapter 1 and chapter 2 masters just to their appropriate pages. Old Bruce
The way I work is I make Chapter 1's Master Page, duplicate it and remove, replace and put in new stuff for Chapter 2, perhaps the only thing I would keep would be the page numbers . I also frequently use @walt.farrell's second suggestion. Page numbering is orthogonal to masters. Page numbering is governed by the Section Manager, and the page number field on a master page (or anywhere else) just shows whatever number the Section Manager decides. walt.farrell
