Selection Brush Tool is not working anymore ...

Recommended Posts

Hi!
I was seriously considering buying Photo, but I just hit a hurdle …
The Selection Brush Tool stopped working. First I thought I had the wrong layer selected, but no - I had the pixel layer selected and it still didn´t work. So I thought it may be a problem with that particular image, so I opened Another JPEG image. And the background is of course a pixel layer and I didn´t add any other layers Before testing, but with the same result ...

So it seems that function just stopped working … it worked the first day I tested the trial version of Photo.
I tried to use the method in this Yuptube clip, the same way as in the beginning (just 5-10 seconds in), but with no luck. Other methods of selecting pixels are working just fine. Is this a known bug?

The Selection Brush Tool has an Add and Subtract ability, when I have trouble with this I usually have set it to Subtract and Zero minus Anything equals something less than nothing which means Zero selected.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

As @Old Brucesays, make sure the brush is not set to Subtract but also make sure you have not unticked ‘Show Pixel Selection’ in the View menu. It is possible to make a selection but not realise it.

If not, can you post a screen grab showing your settings.

Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions.
