Hi,

I successfuly "Pasted special..." Excel table into Publisher. The table retained its text formating, color and other attributes. Text is also fully editable. BUT... it would br really great if "Paste Special" can convert it into Publisher table where we can continue to work on it.

What happens if you paste the Excel table data into a Publisher table ?

Most formatting, colours etc are retained for me, what extra formatting do you get doing a paste special?

I also forgot to ask for linking Excel tables when they are pasted into Publisher, so that every change in the Excel table would reflect to the linked one into Publisher.

Can you upload the Excel file you copied that from?

This is what I get when I paste your Excel data into an APub Table

Note the first line (header row) does not initially show up as it is white text on a white background.  Pasting Excel data does not paste the Cell Fill Colour of the original Excel file.  (Hopefully Serif are working on this for a future release).  In the above table I had to manually change the top 4 cells' fill colour to black.

Other than that it appears to do a pretty good job with only a few minor adjustments needed to match the original  (e.g. Centring the text in rows B-E)

Attached is the second one, with the black fill added to the top row and columns B+D just needing to be Right Aligned.

No, you didn't understand me. I meant the second option "Paste Special > Windows Enhanced Metafile" with the first table.

I get the same results that you posted but it's not a table, so all the current benefits of tables are lost.

Like selecting an entire column/row and changing the fill colour/font etc

Yes, I know it is not a table as you can see from my request above. :)

But why not simply make a table first, as Carl suggested, and paste into it?

What to do with the existing Excel tables? retyping them? :)

And it is much easier and faster to make a table in Excel. And you can do calculations in Excel, as you know. With additional linking of the Excel tables it will be really great to combine these two softwares.

You can make a table in Publisher, then copy your Excel table and paste it into the Publisher table. No need to retype anything.

You may need to ensure that you have at least two cells of the Publisher table selected before you do the paste

Will Publisher's table cells adopt to the excel table (width, height, color...)?
