All text is blurred after latest update.

Recommended Posts

Text looked fine on previous version but after the latest update all the text in a document I am creating is blurred. It prints correctly and all the program label text is sharp. What has happened?

I'm seeing it too in Text Frames. .157 for Windows:

That's 64-point Arial. Looks anti-aliased for some reason. (At smaller font sizes it almost looks like it has a gray drop-shadow of some kind.)

Edit: Here's 12-pt Arial:

Also affects Artistic Text. Here's 108-pt Arial:

Works fine on my Windows 8.0

Can someone upload a faulty APub project file?

Seems to work correctly on a Windows 10 machine (fresh Publisher install). Have you tried to restart the system walt? Does it behaves like that after a restart?

Restarting Windows does not help.

I have taken a screen shot from Publisher and one of the original from Designer. You can see that the publisher version has a sort of shadow effect. It was just as sharp as the Designer clip with the previous version.

Latest status: I re-downloaded Publisher .157 from the new download page (different today from when I downloaded yesterday), and ran the new installer (affinity-publisher-beta-1.0.7.157.exe). It offered me the option to Repair or Uninstall.

Repair didn't help, so I chose Uninstall.

I then re-ran it and reinstalled 1.7.0.157.

Text is still blurry.

Different location (more reliable auto-update location), but the same EXE afaik.

@trevorm & @walt.farrell

Please can you tell me what OS, what screen scaling you are using and if you have any font scaling in your Windows Display settings.

@Chris J has anything changed in .157 regarding the drawing of text in relation to scaled screens?

Same problem here on Win 7. It looks like a bad pixel preview… but there's no such parameter I can find.

Windows text is scaled to 115 % on a 1920×1080 screen.
