My problem is that after doing some projects in the newley aquired AP Workbook I now find that my paint brush tool is jagged rather than round. I have looked to find a way to reset it back to i9ts normal setting but with no succes. Its probably simple, but for the life of me I can't seem to find a solution.

Have you checked the brush settings to see what the Shape is set to? With the Brush Tool enabled, select your brush, now on the Context toolbar click on the More option and check the Shape and Rotation options.

You can reset different areas of the app by holding down the CTRL key and then opening. When the window appears, release the key and select which area and click Clear.

If you continue to have issues, let me know which Brush in Affinity Photo you're selecting.

There are a great many options available in the Affinity Photo Brushes Studio panel but for what you want I suspect the simplest way is with the Paint Brush Tool selected, to open the Brushes panel, choose the "Basic" category from the popup list at the top of the panel, & choose one of the round brushes from the list.
