Brads
Hi, I have a windows version of Designer purchased last January. I subsequently have been running it under Parallels on an iMac but recently had to upgrade Parallels and reinstall Windows. When I try to reinstall Designer I just get the message "Affinity Installer has stopped working". I am running macOS 10.13.6 and a trial version of Parallels 14. Any thoughts as to why and what can I do about it? Thanks Bryan
Staff stokerg Posted October 26, 2018 Staff Share Posted October 26, 2018 Hi Brads and Welcome to the Forums, Can you follow the steps on this link to generate a couple of log files and then upload them here This should help us see why it's failing and offer a solution
Brads
Thanks for this, but I am having difficulty generating the log files. If I drag the installation file into the run dialog box, without appending /log (presumably to generate the log files) the installation begins to run but then gives me the message "Affinity Installer has stopped working" again. When I append the /log to the path name it tells me "Windows cannot access. ........affintiy-designer-1.6.5.135.exe/log". I am working on an iMac under a trial version of Paralles 14. Thanks

So, in the run box it should look like this: <location of download>\affinity-designer-1.6.5.135.exe /log
Brads
Not sure if that worked as it generated a dialog box with the message Options: /help. show this message. /extract Create MSI for silent installation. However it seems that some log files were generated earlier which I have uploaded to dropbox for you. Thanks Bryan
Staff stokerg Posted October 26, 2018 Staff Share Posted October 26, 2018 Hi Bryan, Thanks for the log files. It seems to have failed trying to access the registry, can you just try right clicking on the download for Affinity and selecting 'Run As Administrator' to see if that gives it the needed permission to run. Also you are running a 64bit version of Windows? Just the Affinity apps will only work on a 64bit version of Windows.
Brads
Ah - that must be it. I m running a 32 bit version of Windows 7. The previous version must have been a 64 bit version. I will try and sort this out and see if that solves the problem. Thanks for your help.
