The Pixel Artist Posted October 25, 2018 Posted October 25, 2018 Hi everyone, I'm a 3d rendering artist and typically save my render outputs as 16-bit TIFF images with an embedded alpha mask channel (usually the sky background). When I open these files in Photoshop or other image programs the full image typically loads and the mask as just an available alpha channel. In Affinity the alpha mask is automatically applied when the file is opened and the background removed. I've seen this in some other image viewers (like XnView), but there's usually an option to show the full images w/o alpha. However, I can't find any such option in Affinity. I did find the "Transparent Background" option, but that only removes the alpha transparency to show a white background and not the original sky background save in the file. Am I missing an option somewhere? Any help would be greatly appreciated! (P.S. Very frustrated Adobe CC user and very excited to finally have another potential photo editor option with Affinity!) Staff Gabe Posted October 25, 2018 Staff Posted October 25, 2018 Hi @The Pixel Artist, Welcome to the forums. Any chance you can attach a sample file so we can have a look? Thanks, Gabe. Quote
The Pixel Artist Posted October 25, 2018 Author Posted October 25, 2018 Hi Gabe, Yeah, no problem. Here's both the TIFF and also a jpg version. (so you can see the whole image) View01-org1WM.tif Quote
Staff Gabe Posted October 25, 2018 Staff Posted October 25, 2018 As I thought. Go to Channels Studio, right click on Background Alpha and choose "Fill". Quote

Ah, I see, thanks man! Very glad to know there's at least a way. That said, I would like to make a feature request that images with a save alpha channel shouldn't be automatically applied like this when opened (like PS or other image apps). Either that or some options in the open file dialog would be nice. Thanks and keep up the great work on this app! Quote
