Moving between Affinity Designer and Photo on ipad

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to work on a layered project in Designer on ipad and then take that into Photo on ipad to finish up on some pixel layers (things that cant be done in pixel persona on AD)?  If so, how?  Is there a way to just open while in a different Affinity product? Or does one save in a particular format to, say, a cloud service like Dropbox or Google drive or icloud? And then reopen?  And if that is the case, what is best format to save?    Thank you.

Save the file as an afdesign file anywhere (cloud/iPad/local network) then open or import from cloud. This opens Files app and lets you navigate to save location.

We want a direct button to instantly switch between the two app, like on the desktop app.

You should post a feature request in the Suggestions for ,,, thread. :)

From the welcome screen you can also long press the document then drag and drop it into Photo to open and then edit in Photo. Can see it here on this keynote from about 19 minutes...

Two problems:

Problem One: it makes a copy rather than moving it over (at least when moving from v1 Designer to v2 Photo). So it would be less of a problem for me to just open up Photo, navigate to the file’s location in the Designer folder, open it, then work on it in Photo. After working on it, save, then open Designer, and because the altered file is not on the welcome screen, I navigate to the file in the Designer folder to open it, and the edits made in Photo are there.

Problem Two: Not working for me with v2. I can move files from v1 Designer into v2 Photo, but when long pressing the file in the v2 apps it does not allow me to swipe up the ipad dock to allow dropping the file onto another app.

One app please. Not Photo alone. Not Designer alone. Not StudioLink which doesn’t give access to all the functionality. One app. Combine all of Designer and Photo into one app, and call it Designer—a more fitting name for all the tools anyway, because “design” often incorporates all kinds of image types, and “Affinity Photo” is often used for non-photo work anyway, so Photo as a name makes no sense either, except for the marketing concern of pitting Designer against Illustrator and Photo against Photoshop. One app. Or two if you like to sell Publisher separately—no need for StudiolLink either, just a keyboard shortcut that allows for “Edit in …”—Or, make StudioLink complete, allowing access to all the functions, not just some of them.
