srg
Hi, I use a lot the phocus merge in AP to get dept of focus. Now my question is if it is better, for my purpose, to use a small F (example F4) with smaller (more) focus increments or a large F (example F11). Furthermore is there a limit or optimal number of the shots that can be merged? Thank you.

Most lenses have what they call a 'sweet spot' that gives the best resolution as a compromise between depth of field and diffraction. It is typically around f/5.6 or f/8. You really need to try your own lens and see. 8 hours ago, srg said: Furthermore is there a limit or optimal number of the shots that can be merged? There is no theoretical limit, but unless you are doing micro or extreme macro stacking, then 10-20 should be adequate at the sweet spot.
