donka
There are some stacking options in AP but I would love to see star stacking for astrophotography that would automate star alignment. Is this something that could be implemented?
marcdraco
James Ritson has a rather jolly tutorial on this - although he didn't so much align the stars as take a sequence of high-ISO shots in fairly quick succession so they earth's rotation didn't go an spoil everything. donka
Yes, I’ve seen this video. It’s a good technique but you are limited to how many images you can capture before trails will start to appear once stacked. You are also more or less forced to use a higher ISO to start with introducing extra noise that you are trying to defeat in the first place. It’s all a balancing act I guess but star alignment would be a great addition imho.
Pariah
I'd like to see this too. I do a lot of Astrophotography and have bought Affinity for editing foreground/nightscapes, but would love to see a dedicated star alignment routine for image stacking and de-noise-ing.. John Rostron
I would see this as an application for scripting rather than macros. You would need to tell the script where the axis of rotation (Pole Star) was then to rotate accordingly. Very often in wider night sky images the background will have more of an effect on the current image alignment algorithms than the stars do.
