New dimension not shown when changing DPI

Recommended Posts

If I have an image that is 10 inches by 10 inches at 100dpi and I open Document Resize and uncheck 'resample' and double the dpi, the image should now be 5 inches by 5 inches. But the Document Resize window doesn't reflect this change.

The only way to see the new dimensions is to 'Resize' and then reopen Document Resize. This is a total pain. I'm gobsmacked that AP doesn't do this.

Is this a bug or a new feature?

I'm also surprised that Document Resize doesn't show (unlike Photoshop) the new file size (the size of the file if it were saved as an uncompressed Tiff)

Hi @Markeeee
So, the order you do things makes the difference (not that that is "correct" or makes sense.... still needs attention).
Change the dpi first THEN uncheck Resample. The dimensions should change as they grey out.
(can't help with file size in the resize window.... but that will/should show up in the Export dialog)

Hi Alfred. Do you have the same issue with AP? Or is this just my version?

I'm using the current version of AP on Mac OS High Seirra

Thanks

In the Windows version, it doesn’t matter whether I change the DPI before or after unchecking ‘Resample’. In both cases the dimensions don’t immediately change: I have to close the dialog and reopen it to see the new values.
