Smyth
BETA Affinity Publisher's icon is assuming itself on my Pre-beta Affinity Publisher SVG files! It's replacing their original icons with it's own, and setting itself as their default app for opening. Highly undesirable. A tad predatory too. Staff Chris B Posted October 4, 2018 Staff Share Posted October 4, 2018 Hey Smyth, welcome to the Affinity Forums. What is the default app designated to open an SVG file set to? What were you using before? Have you tried changing the default app to what it was/should be? Smyth
When I started Affinity Publisher BETA 1.7.0.128 or earlier, yesterday, I watched it change older "Adobe Illustration" and "Graphic" icons into its own. (Like bite of the vampire.) Then it dubbed itself top choice for default app of these files. They have since returned to their original icons, and I have not been able to reproduce the phenomena. As for Publisher Beta showing up as an immediate option in the scroll-down default list now, it only does so if its an Affinity file. In the past it has also altered some Affinity Photo and Affinity Design icons, but they too have changed back. I have yet to open up version 1.7.0.139 but am looking forward to it. -Smyth
Old Bruce
For several years the Mac has had these difficulties with Icons. There are a number of programs I have which will seize other's property when first installed or after an update of the OS. 8 minutes ago, Smyth said: it dubbed itself top choice for default app of these files. Vaguely recall that happening several years back, the program couldn't open them so no harm done but why would it try, why would the OS allow it in the first place. Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
