I am tattoo artist and we have a stencil thermal printer that only prints A4, sometimes when I work on a drawing that it bigger than an A4 in Photoshop in the print dialogue box you can place a specific part of your artwork in the A4 or when you need something to be printed in a different size instead of 15cm to print it 16cm. Because, I also faced that problem during deal with my clients in my professional work. Well, I have small business of Photoshop to create and edit the customers photos of any time. Yes, 2 years ago, I'm using the Canon printer that's does not wok properly, so after that I permanently converted into thermal printer as you mention above. I think now a days that's type of printer working fine for prints of any type of size as we want.
