Old Colonist
Hi. First bug I've noticed since purchasing Designer. Drew a circle, then a line with the pen tool. Selected both, hit subtract and the line just disappeared, without subtraction. This happens only with a line drawn with the pen. Any other shapes will subtract properly. Alfred
You can only subtract shapes, not lines. If your line is curved, Designer will join the ends for you to create a closed curve which will successfully subtract, but a straight line can’t be made to enclose a non-zero area. Any other shapes will subtract properly. This isn’t defined as a bug, it just doesn’t support line “trim” so a missing feature compared to some other packages. Geometry only works on 2D shapes not 1D parts like a line. Guest
Hello Old Colonist, Select the line, "Layer", "Expand Stroke". Then select the line and circle and do "Substract". By doing so, the line becomes a shape and you can then use Boolean operations.
Old Colonist
Reglico, That worked. Thanks so much for your help! Alternatively , Psenda, you might consider keeping your snarky comments to yourself if you don't have anything positive to say.
